Wisby Coat of Plates

The WTC Coat of Plates is constructed using high quality 6oz chrome oil tanned leather with 18 gauge mild steel plates riveted to the interior. The steel plates are primed and painted for rust-prevention and the rivets are solid copper or brass instead of pop rivets or jiffy rivets. All hardware is hand-forged and welded from steel rod to maintain a period appearence.
Our CoP uses several pieces of leather hand-stitched together using waxed linen thread (very durable and period) to acheive a well-fitted shell. Please note the seam on the top of the shoulders on the WTC CoP. This seam allows the shoulders to be sloped properly to fit the human body instead of the rectangular shape too often used that causes poor fit and excess protruding leather.
These CoPs are also shaped in a manner that allows the weight to be distributed over the body instead of resting entirely on the shoulders. Not only is this far more comfortable to wear but it keeps the armour moving WITH you during combat. Even though these CoPs use steel plates instead of aluminum or plastic they feel surprisingly light due to their proper fit.
Furthermore, these CoPs descend only down to the natural waist instead of down past the hips. While this sacrifices some protection for the abdomen it allows the wearer to fully bend over and allows great mobility. For those customers who wish additional abdominal, hip and butt protection we offer hanging dag plates to protect these areas while maintaining mobility and comfort.

Every CoP we make is custom made to your measurements in order to fit your body properly. During quiet times of the year we can usually ship these out within a few weeks but we do sometimes get backlogged. Contact us before ordering for an update on our production queue.
We can also make these CoP's out of 18 gauge stainless steel for an additional charge to cover the extra expense of the material and difficulty in working it. Stainless will be far more durable and dent-resistant than the standard mild steel. We do not offer CoP's with plastic or aluminum plates and have no intention of doing so at any point in the future. Spring Steel CoP's are available with in-person fittings. Contact WTC with your sizing information and we would be happy to provide a quote for the stainless/spring steel upgrades.

Add armoured dags - $125-$175
*Unfortunately we have had to raise our dag prices pretty significantly. We sell 3 dagged CoP's for every un-dagged CoP and especially on the larger CoP's the dags were adding about 50% to our materials cost and almost doubling labor. A standard CoP has 18 plates. Adding dags adds 18-22 plates. We realize this significantly increases the cost of the armour but we just couldn't subsidize the dags any longer given the rate at which they were selling.
